CV
Alexandros Papamarkou works predominantly as a sound & performance artist.
Sound, improvisation and collaboration are recurring elements in his work.
He deals with site-specific subject matter, conditions or situations, utilizing the materials at hand. His practice contains spontaneous improvised action as he understands art as a (self-educative) tool, searching for a balance within a given or created context. This process profoundly determines the outcome of his work.

In his ongoing artistic research, he increasingly incorporated his experiences as a father and issues related to his family life. He has a strong interest in matters such as self-sufficiency, sustainability and ecological thinking.

He is one of the founding members of the Tsarino Foundation which is an artist-run art residency. The art residencies are held in the remote mountain village Tsarino, Bulgaria. The foundation is based in Amsterdam, the Netherlands.
